Fort Walton Beach, Florida

A week ago we were able to tag along with Marshall on a work trip to Florida. We packed up on Monday night and left the house around 8pm. We drove all night. The boys did great. They woke up around 3am and wanted a cookie and to watch a movie. We let them and they went back to sleep around 5am. We pulled in to Fort Walton Beach around 9am and they were rested and ready to go.

This was at a gas station around 3am. Notice Jackson's oatmeal cream pie. I love those things!

We ate at Cracker Barrel for breakfast.

As soon as we got to the hotel we loaded up and went down to the beach. The waves were really rough that day so I made the boys keep their life jackets on at all times even though we went no where near the water. I was still waiting to see how they would be on the beach. I wasn't sure if one of them would just take off running or something.

This was the view from our balcony.

The boys really weren't interested in taking a sunset picture with their Mommy.

All of the places we went to for dinner had these great beach parks. They boys loved playing after dinner. Needless to say they slept great every night.

Jackson is very social but he took it to another level on this trip. If he saw any other kid he instantly made friends and started organizing what they would play.

My beach baby.

Jack found a friend to play Frisbee with.

Jackson called this hill of sand the "cliffs." Each day we would have to walk down to the cliffs so he and Grant could jump and slide down them.

For some reason Grant's little nose ran every time we went down to the beach. One day before I had wiped his nose for the 100th time he fell face first in the sand...with his mouth open. It was SO gross. He and Jack thought it was too funny.

We went to a great restaurant called Fudpuckers for dinner one night. The food was great and below the dining room they had 100 alligators! For 3 dollars you could feed them with a very long fishing pole. Jackson was so excited.

They invited 3 kids down into the alligator pit to hold an alligator. Jackson was chosen. He was the youngest one by a few years. He was so scared he was shaking but he really really wanted to go.

At night our hotel would show movies by the pool. The boys loved it. There was always popcorn but Grant usually chose to eat his dinner leftovers. That boy loves him some corn.

The drive home was an adventure. Again the boys did great. It took us 12.5 hours to get home. We stopped 3 times. I think Grant cried for a total of 20 minutes which is not bad. They ate about 10 suckers a piece and watched 4 movies.

We had a great time. We didn't see Marshall much. He worked everyday from about 6am to 6pm. We had fun family dinners each night and were able to spend all day Saturday together.

Love,

Leah

your posts are all so great and make me laugh.. life w/ two boys seems sooo differnt than life w/ all girls and princesses / barbies and castles.. so funny how they are wired so differently!
